A natural whitener can be an excellent, eco-friendly alternative to commercial bleaching products. Using just 1 tablespoon of certain natural ingredients in your washing machine can help keep your laundry white, bright, and spotless. Here’s how it works and what you can use:
Popular Natural Whiteners
- Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)
Helps brighten whites by removing stains and odors. Softens water, allowing detergents to work more effectively. Add 1 tablespoon to your washing machine drum or detergent compartment during the wash cycle.
- Hydrogen Peroxide (3%)
Acts as a natural bleach to remove stains and whiten fabrics. Mix 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide with water and pour it into the bleach dispenser. It’s safe for most whites but avoid using it on colored fabrics.
- White Vinegar
Natural deodorizer and stain remover. Add 1 tablespoon to the fabric softener compartment to brighten whites and soften fabrics at the same time.
