Make Your Own Soap to Remove Skin Blemishes & Acne

Ingredients (basic recipe):

  • 250 ml olive oil
  • 200 ml coconut oil
  • 50 ml castor oil
  • 100 g shea butter
  • 70 g lye (sodium hydroxide)
  • 180 ml distilled water
  • 1 tbsp activated charcoal
  • 10–15 drops tea tree essential oil
  • Optional: 1 tbsp turmeric or honey

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Safely
    • Wear gloves and goggles when handling lye.
    • Work in a well-ventilated space.
  2. Mix the Lye Solution
    • Slowly add lye to distilled water (never the other way around). Stir carefully and let it cool.
  3. Heat the Oils
    • Melt shea butter and coconut oil together, then add olive oil and castor oil. Allow to cool until around 40–45°C.
  4. Combine Lye & Oils
    • Slowly pour the lye solution into the oils. Blend with a stick blender until it reaches “trace” (a pudding-like consistency).
  5. Add Skin-Healing Boosters
    • Mix in activated charcoal, tea tree oil, and any other additives like turmeric or honey. Stir well.
  6. Mold the Soap
    • Pour into silicone molds or a lined soap mold. Tap to remove air bubbles.
  7. Cure the Soap
    • Cover and let rest for 24–48 hours until firm.
    • Remove from molds, cut into bars, and cure for 4–6 weeks in a cool, dry place. This ensures the soap is mild and skin-safe.

How to Use Your Acne-Fighting Soap

  • Wash your face with lukewarm water and lather the soap gently.
  • Avoid scrubbing harshly—let the ingredients do the work.
  • Use once or twice daily, followed by a light moisturizer.
  • Store the soap in a dry place to prolong its life.

Extra Tips for Clear Skin

  • Keep pillowcases and towels clean to prevent bacteria transfer.
  • Stay hydrated and eat a balanced diet rich in antioxidants.
  • Avoid over-washing—this can strip natural oils and worsen acne.

Conclusion

Making your own acne-fighting soap at home is a rewarding way to care for your skin naturally. By combining healing ingredients like tea tree oil, activated charcoal, and aloe vera, you can create a gentle cleanser that reduces blemishes, unclogs pores, and supports overall skin health. With patience and the right recipe, you’ll have a handmade skincare solution that is as effective as it is natural.
