Keep Parsley,Basiland Coriander Fresh for a Long Time

Here are effective tips to keep parsley, basil, and coriander (cilantro) fresh for an extended period:

  1. Store Them Like Fresh Flowers

This method works especially well for parsley and coriander.

Steps:

  1. Trim the stems slightly.
  2. Place the herbs upright in a glass jar or cup with about an inch of water.
  3. Cover the top loosely with a plastic bag to create a humid environment.
  4. Store in the refrigerator. Change the water every 2-3 days.

Note: Basil is sensitive to cold. For basil, leave the jar at room temperature instead of refrigerating.

  1. Wrap in Damp Paper Towels

Perfect for all three herbs.

Steps:

  1. Rinse the herbs under cool water and pat them dry gently.
  2. Lay the herbs flat on a damp (not wet) paper towel.
  3. Roll the paper towel around the herbs.
  4. Place the roll inside a resealable plastic bag or an airtight container.
  5. Store in the refrigerator.
  1. Use Herb-Specific Storage Containers

Invest in herb-keeping containers designed to keep them fresh by providing a controlled environment.

Steps:

  1. Trim the stems.
  2. Place herbs in the container with a small amount of water at the bottom.
  3. Store in the refrigerator.
